Lanefoot Farm Campsite
We visited this site in August 2007 and really enjoyed it.
Location/Access
The site is in a great location, just a few minutes from Keswick, with good views over Bassenthwaite Lake. Access is quite tight, and turning in to the site itself requires some care. That said, the owner was on hand when we arrived and was very helpful.
The site is split into several areas:
- There is a large field on the left as you drive up which is quite a distance from the proprietors' home. This field has some caravan hook-ups.
- There is a small field directly behind the house, also with hook-ups. This is handy for the toilets and showers, and is ideal for families as there is a small childrens' play area and a large trampoline behind the house.
- There in another field behind this, on the far right as you approach, which is quite private as it is surrounded by mature trees.
Facilities
The site had been up and running about 18 months when we stayed, and the facilities were fine for our purposes. I suspect as time goes only they will continue to improve. The owners and lovely and couldn't be more helpful. As we were sited a little bit away from a hookup, the owner located an extension cable to get us connected. Not only that, but our children were ill on the first night, and the owners allowed us to use their own washer and tumble drier to get the sleeping bags cleaned up. They couldn't have been friendlier.
The site is quite a well kept secret, but I suspect it won't stay that way long! In summary, we loved it.
